NBA Philippines Games 2013 will feature a game between the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers on October 10 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced Tuesday.

This marks the first ever NBA pre-season game in Southeast Asia.

Stern himself confirmed the news via a taped message shown at a press conference at the MOA Arena.

“We are pleased to be able to return (to the Philippines) with a game featuring the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets, two young and exciting teams with a terrific array of players,” Stern said.

According to ABS-CBN, the Rockets will feature All-Star and former Sixth Man of the Year James Harden, as well as Asian-American sensation Jeremy Lin, who spawned the “Linsanity” phenomenon when he played for the New York Knicks last season.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers will feature four All-Stars: Paul George, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, and David West.

NBA Asia vice president and marketing manager Scott Levy said the NBA and SM will have a variety of events throughout 2013 as part of the build-up to the pre-season game.
