Malacañang declared December 26, 2012 and January 2, 2013, both fall on a Wednesday, not holidays, based on Proclamation No. 295 and Proclamation No. 459 declaring the regular holidays, special (non-working) days, and special holidays for the years 2012 and 2013.

But two long weekends await employees this month because December 24 (Monday), December 25, December 30 (Friday), December 31, and January 1, 2013 are all declared holidays.

December 24 was declared holiday as an additional special (non-working) day throughout the country in order to foster closer family ties and enable Filipinos to observe Christmas more meaningfully, Proclamation No. 495 said.

December 31 (Tuesday) was also declared holiday as the Last Day of the Year 2012.
