A 3.8 magnitude earthquake hits Bulacan and nearby areas including Makati, Quezon City, Pasig, and Taguig City Wednesday morning, October 31, 2012, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake was recorded at 10:07:22 AM, 31 km northeast of Doña Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan.

The quake was felt at Intensity III in Quezon City, Pasig, Makati and Taguig.

The quake had a depth of 13 kilometers.

Director Renato Solidum of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said he cannot say if another quake might follow the first one. "The quake was tectonic in origin, and had started due to a movement of a fault in the Sierra Madre," he added.

  1. This is better reporting. Other media are reporting as if a big temblor occurred that shook buildings in manila.

  2. Natural calamities are rampant nowadays. Preparation for any eventualities is a must. Schools are doing their quarter earthquake drill for this case. It's good that this morning quake is 3.8 intensity. Nevertheless we couldn't say that there could be no following tremor coming. We must always be prepared like the boy scout motto.
