The All Souls' Day in November 2012 is a holiday in the country while October 31, 2012 is not declared as a special day or a holiday. This is in accordance to Proclamation 295 which was signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III on November 24th.
Netizens have flocked to search engines for the last few days in search of a positive answer whether October 31st is a holiday. This is due to the last year's proclamation of said date as a special day.
Reports said Malacanang is not keen on declaring October 31 as a holiday. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the four-day long weekend from November 1 to 4 is enough for the public to visit their beloved dead.
“The four-day weekend will provide everybody the ample time to visit their loved ones who have passed,“ she added. Valte said that the Philippine National Police (PNP), particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), has started preparations for the long weekend, particularly in major cemeteries like the Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Manila Memorial Park, and Loyola Memorial Park. November 1 and 2, All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, are special non-working holidays.
