In the latest weather update of PAGASA issued at 5:00 p.m., 21 July 2012, Tropical Depression "FERDIE" is now moving in a west northwest direction away from the country. It is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph.

At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression "FERDIE" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 240 km west northwest of Laoag City (18.6°N, 118.0°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

Estimated rainfall amount is heavy - intense (10 - 25 mm per hour) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Depression, weather bureau added.

Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides due to enhanced Southwest monsoon especially the western section of Luzon and Visayas.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the western seaboard of Luzon due to the combined effect of Tropical Depression "FERDIE" and the Southwest Monsoon.
