In its latest weather update of PAGASA issued at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011, Typhoon "QUIEL" has weakened as it moves farther away from the country.

At 4:00 p.m. today,the eye of Typhoon "QUIEL" was located based on satellite and surface data at 370 km West Northwest of Baguio City (16.9°N 116.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is forecast to move West at 20 kph.

Meanwhile, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 740 km East of Visayas (12.0°N 133.0°E).

Typhoon Quiel is expected to be 610 km West Northwest of Baguio City by Monday morning.

No Public Storm Warning Signals have been raised by PAGASA in this latest update.

Typhoon "Quiel" enhances the Southwest Monsoon and brings rains over western section of Southern Luzon.

  1. I'g glad Pedring's out of the country, but considering the damage he made, I think we need to be more ready for Queil the sooner the better.
